and how she justifies the times she's had to
terminate another life.

Taal stops by for a social visit
but first explains how he flies while on duty and
gets a lesson on the politics of business in the
3rd dimension. He also tells of how his child is
learning to be pilot and what the steps he has to
go through. He explains how members of a family
can’t serve in the same squadron and why which
brings up the question of what he would do if he
wasn’t needed on the base.

Wing Commander Taal is part of two
shuttles escorting the ski team to Sirius and then
Centauri Base where the races are to be held that
year. It’s his second honeymoon and will be taking
his child with Katrina for some fun on the
slopes.

The Baron
reflects on the various options available
to him as a pilot now that he is at a
point of retirement. For him, none of the
choices appealed to him and he would die
in his ship only a few months later. Omal
is trying him in a role as ringmaster
which may have present that way a fourth
option. He also relates how he watches our
old episodes of "Star Trek" that has been
beamed into space while on patrol.

Omal speculates on giving The Baron
permanent resident status on the base as he did
Treebeard after discussing the job he had been
doing as a temporary ring master. He explains that
at 372, he was one of the oldest active pilots by
far. He notes one area of concern he has which may
go against him.

time as he has only recently been assigned to the
base. Most of the details were filled in from
chats previous to this but we hear him reveal how
the fact that his craft is red scares off any of
the Zeta craft in the sector from his reputation
alone.

his son is soon to get his implant all pilots get
that will be a crucial step in following in his
parent’s footsteps. Before that happens the family
is off to Centauri Base for the Tri-Base ski races
for some R&R. Taal likes the aggressive nature
of his so who we find out is bested in his crèche
by the three Cubs of Mark and Tia.
